B-16 | Intraprocedural Thrombosis During Patent Ductus Arteriosus Device Closure in Premature Infants
The patency of ductus arteriosus has been associated with increased morbidity and mortality in premature infants. Transcatheter device closure of patent ductus arteriosus (tcPDA) has been considered a safe alternative to the traditional surgical ligation with reported low risk of complications. Intraprocedural anticoagulation during tcPDA has been usually avoided due to the risk of intraventricular hemorrhage in premature infants.
