A-17 | Obesity Paradox in Elderly STEMI Patients: Improved Outcomes Compared to Normal Weight Counterparts
Obesity has long been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. However, studies suggest a paradoxical relationship between BMI and survival in acute cardiovascular events, where obesity may confer a protective effect. Understanding this relationship in elderly patients with STEMI is crucial for risk stratification and clinical decision-making.
