E-46 | Socioeconomic Disparities in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Utilization: Insights from the 2022 National Inpatient Sample
Surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) was the standard treatment for severe aortic stenosis (AS) but carried high risks for inoperable patients. Before transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), patients received palliative treatments like diuretics and balloon valvuloplasty, which did not improve outcomes. TAVR has emerged as a critical alternative, improving symptoms and survival. This study examined TAVR rates by income.
