C-39 | When Healing Hurts: Pericarditis a Rare Outcome of Pulsed-Field Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
Pulsed-field ablation (PFA) is a novel method for treating atrial fibrillation (AF), utilizing electroporation for selective cardiac tissue targeting with minimal collateral thermal damage. While early data suggest lower rates of complications, such as pericarditis, compared to traditional ablation methods (Figure 1), the occurrence of pericarditis, though rare, warrants further investigation as PFA adoption increases. The unique non-thermal mechanism of PFA may create unrecognized patterns of injury that require closer examination.
