D-5 | Rising Mortality Trends Associated with Acute Myocardial Infarction and Psychoactive Substance Use in Older Adults: A U.S. Nationwide Analysis (1999-2020)
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major cause of death in adults aged 65 and older, with the increasing use of psychoactive substances worsening its risk factors. Research on the impact of AMI and substance use in older adults has been limited. This study examines trends in AMI-related mortality among older adults with substance use disorders from 1999 to 2020, focusing on key demographic and geographic disparities.
