D-28 | Bioresorbable vascular scaffolds vs drug eluting stents for patients with myocardial infarction
Drug eluting stents (DES) are considered to be the primary strategy for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) as they greatly reduce the risk for target lesion revascularization, in-stent restenosis (ISR) and major adverse cardiac events (MACE). However, the metallic implant causes vessel distortion and chronic inflammation that can lead to complications such as target vessel myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularization, and target vessel revascularization regardless of the type of stent.
