INVERSION ANALOGIES IN FORMING DUAL-FUNCTON SPACES FOR REST-RELAX ETHNO-DEBARCADER
This project proposes a new naming and associated visual concept for a creative restaurant located on a floating platform (debarcader), designed for extended relaxation and leisure. The restaurant features reinforced protection areas (shelters) and combines Japanese style (Japan) with Ukrainian ornamental motifs. We have named this project "Japan-Ukr" with the concept of "Rest-Relax"—a modular structure with dual functionality as a mini-restaurant and protective shelter (a resilience hub). As an experiment with new restaurant-landing platform designs, a special design "ferma-zymbaori" for the Japanese style direction (japandi) was used. It can be also called "ferma-vyshyvanka", since the protective screens on the facade have ornamentation of Ukrainian ethnic motifs. The facade supporting structure of the frame type is designed in such a way that it resembles the Ukrainian ornament on a samurai cape. Protective type blinds-screens, with stylized ornaments on the structures, are provided from polymer (like roller shutters) panels to reflect the shock wave and fragments with an elastic frame on pneumatic cushions. The proposed debarcader design can serve as a primary shelter and provide a comfortable "life capsule"—a prototype for using unique design techniques to create a mooring area (pier). The blend of ethnic style with "shōji" architecture achieves a harmonious balance between tradition and innovation. Ethnic elements bring cultural depth and meaning to the project, while the capsule-like architecture ensures modern functionality and comfort. This synergy creates a unique space that reflects both cultural heritage and an innovative approach to architecture, making the debarcader a place where the traditions of the past and technologies of the future converge.
