FEATURES AND CONDITIONS FOR THE LOCATION OF SHOPPING AND ENTERTAINMENT CENTRES WITHIN CITIES

The article analyses the conditions of location of shopping and entertainment centres within cities, such as: in central areas, business districts and on the periphery. Based on the literature, the article examines the conditions of transport accessibility to the locations of shopping and entertainment centres and the conditions of land allocation for their construction. It is found that in the case of locating shopping and entertainment centres within the central parts of cities, it is necessary to take into account the existing urban planning pedestrian and transport routes. In other words, it is necessary to ensure the interconnection of external, already formed, pedestrian routes with the designed internal transit routes of the new facility. For shopping malls located outside the city, an important component at the master plan level will be the location of major highways, convenient nearby car interchanges and the organisation of car parks, which will allow for comfortable access to the shopping mall and loading of purchases by customers. The research will be used to create recommendations for the design of shopping malls in the specific climatic and socio-economic conditions of the Republic of Congo.
