THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR THE REVITALISATION OF SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT IN POST-WAR UKRAINE: INTANGIBLE CONTEXT

The article substantiates the approaches and tools for revitalisation (bringing back to life) of the territories destroyed and devastated by war, taking into account the essence of the intangible, and describes the concepts that formalise the relationship between architecture, space and war. The author analyses the interactions and influences of the intangible on the space of the state and its cities, and assesses the spatial manifestation of the intangible in the Ukrainian-Russian war. The spatial dimensions of war and their relationship with the intangible in the space of the state are studied using a socio-analytical approach and long-term observations, where space is perceived as a complex system of life support networks that unite the ‘fabric’ of society and can be used for various forms of social influence and control. The model of five-dimensional space is used to build a model of urban space in the categories of intangible, as well as to understand their properties. The characteristics of the selected dimensions and their interaction make it possible to analyse the state (tension) of the system, to organise processes and behaviour in them, and to identify the most important interactions from the standpoint of the integrity of the methodology. In the model, each dimension is detailed in relation to the goal for the tasks of studying intangible processes and the behaviour of spatial systems in war. The proposed model for substantiating the spatial future, which is presented in the form of a matrix, the dimension of which is determined by the number of its elements, and the number of cells corresponds to the number of pairwise combinations, allows to reconcile the intangible components of space and the characteristics of war both within the system and with the supersystem. It outlines an approach to substantiating decisions on reconstruction and modelling the future, reveals the place of the intangible in war, helps to explain reality, shape beliefs, values, behaviour, and create socio-psychological comfort in the post-war space, and, accordingly, better cope with the difficulties and complexities of spatial planning.
