F-20 | Imaging Modalities for Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion: Comparing the Post-Procedural Utility of Transesophageal Echocardiography vs Cardiac Computerized Tomography Angiography
The left atrial appendage (LAA) is considered a primary site for thrombus formation. Left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) at the orifice is often a viable approach for preventing thrombi from emerging at the LAA and entering systemic circulation. Post operative LAA evaluation with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is considered the standard modality to examine for potential complications. Cardiac computerized tomography angiography (CTA) has recently emerged as a potential alternative to TEE.
