E-45 | Impact of Dementia on Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Rates and Outcomes:Analysis of the National Inpatient Sample 2022
Surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) was historically the standard treatment for severe symptomatic aortic stenosis (AS) but carried high risks for inoperable patients, leaving them with palliative options that did not improve outcomes. With the development of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), an alternative emerged, improving symptoms and survival. This study examined TAVR outcomes in patients with dementia and compared rates between those with and without dementia.
