Carboxytherapy in the treatment of macular amyloidosis: A case-series report
Introduction: Macular amyloidosis is an important cause of cutaneous pigmentation. Treatment of macular amyloidosis is a challenge for dermatologists. Carboxytherapy, as a safe and minimally invasive modality, is a relatively well-known technique for skin restoration, reconditioning, and rejuvenation. However, carboxytherapy for macular amyloidosis has not been assessed. Here, we reported the efficacy of carboxytherapy for the treatment of macular amyloidosis. Cases presentation: Four patients with macular amyloidosis by received carboxytherapy. The treatment responses were evaluated by assessment of the pigmentation severity, degree of pigmentation improvement, pattern of pigmentation, skin thickness, pruritus severity, and patient satisfaction. Carboxytherapy was effective in treating of macular amyloidosis in these patients after assessment of all 6 parameters. No serious side effect was not seen in them. Discussion: Carboxytherapy was found to be effective in the treatment of macular amyloidosis. Conclusion: In the present case series, we have demonstrated the effectiveness of carboxytherapy for the treatment of macular amyloidosis.
