The effect of the surface response function contribution on the Hamaker coefficient in a nonlocal electrolyte slab

Abstract We study the contribution of the surface response function to the Hamaker coefficient in slab region containing an electrolyte solution. We employed scattering theory to calculate the Lifshitz force in an electrolyte slab separating two semi-infinite dielectric media. Our calculations show the surface contribution is relatively significant at short wavelengths where the nonlocal effects are important and for some constant values of surface response at different salt concentrations.
