Commentators of Al- Mutanabbi's Diwan (comparative study)

This paper aimed to compare two distinguished models of commentators of Al-Mutanabbi's Diwan, namely Ibn al-Ifli Al Zohri and Abd al-Rahman al-Barqouki. Each of them retains its own methodological and contextual specificity, leading us to question how these two critics view Al-Mutanabbi's Diwan; has it remained constant, or has it changed according to the critical reference approach of each of them? This study sought to shed light on this question by using characterization and reception theory as a helpful way for study the two previous models by comparing and analyzing them, starting from the question that questioned the cognitive apparatus that these readers relied on in looking at the heritage; Al-Mutanabbi's Diwan as an example, in an effort to demonstrate some of the foundations these two readers depended upon and trace their evolution. We also note that these two readers belong to two distinct civilizations: Andalusia and the Levant, stretching from the eleventh century to the twentieth century AD, which showcases the richness of Al-Mutanabbi's experience and the breadth of its scope.
