A Patient With Oligoastrocytoma of Suprasellar Cistern Combined With Infantile Uterus

Suprasellar cistern oligoastrocytoma is a rare neurosurgical entity characterized by indolent growth and favorable overall prognosis, yet it remains incurable with a high recurrence rate and potential progression to glioblastoma. Currently, Maximal safe surgical resection remains the primary treatment, followed by adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In this case, the first symptom was amenorrhea for 8 months. The diagnosis of infantile uterus was confirmed by gynecological ultrasonography, and the symptoms did not improve significantly after symptomatic treatment. The tumor in the sellar region was not considered in the initial diagnosis until the patient's right eye vision declined. The MRI examination of the pituitary suggested that the sellar region was occupying lesions and after a multidisciplinary consultation, the patient finally underwent craniotomy. A 12-month postoperative follow-up demonstrated improved vision acuity, regular menstruation, and no tumor recurrence on MRI.
