Development of a Laser-based Measuring System for the Radius and Roundness of Stator
A stator measurement system based on laser displacement sensors was developed to solve the problems of low efficiency, human error, and data visualization of the manual measurement of the stacked core radius in the stator assembly process of hydropower stations. First, the mechanical structure of the stator measurement system is designed based on the principle of comparison measurement, and the measurement of the stator radius of any cross-section is realized through motion control of the mechanical structure. Second, based on the laser sampling data, a method of compensating for the measurement error caused by the center column and stator's eccentricity is proposed, saving the time required to install and adjust the center column. Then, a software system with the functions of data processing, display, and storage was developed based on Python. Finally, the stator radius and roundness field test is carried out based on the above process. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the radius and roundness measurements of the measuring system is 0.078 and 0.051 mm, respectively, which meets the demand for fast and accurate measurement of the stator radius and roundness.
