Multibarreled Common Rail Enhanced Railgun
It has been nearly 100 years since the concept of electromagnetic railgun was proposed, but its basic structure has not changed much. In order to improve its launch efficiency, the form of multiturn rail is mostly adopted. The multiturn current is used to enhance the magnetic induction intensity of the bore and improve the launch performance. In this article, a new multibarrel railgun structure is proposed. One rail of conventional single-turn electromagnetic railguns is “combined,” then the current in the “combined” rail is several times increased. The magnetic field generated by the total current obtained in the “combined” rail passes through the bore of each launcher at the same time. The magnetic field is used by each launcher, so as to realize the synchronous improvement of the magnetic induction intensity of each bore without increasing the driving current value of each launcher. Therefore, the launch efficiency of the multibarrel launcher is improved overall. Through further evolution and structural optimization, the “extended multibarrel common rail enhanced railgun” with flexible structural form greatly improved barrel number and comprehensive performance was further constructed.
