Short-Circuit Ride-Through for a CRM-Based Soft-Switching Three-Phase Inverter
This paper introduces the short-circuit ride-through operation for a critical conduction mode (CRM) based soft-switching three-phase three-wire inverter. A CRM - discontinuous conduction mode – discontinuous pulse width modulation hybrid modulation is implemented to a three-phase inverter to realize high efficiency and high power-density with hundreds of kilohertz operation. A fixed switching-frequency modulation is applied during short-circuit condition instead of the original hybrid modulation to enable the ride-through function. The necessity of the separate modulation is analyzed, and the parameters of the separate modulation are optimized. Finally, experiments are performed to verify the proposed short-circuit ride-through operation.
