A Novel IPPC Method for Precise Overload Protection and Burst Mode Operation in LLC Resonant Converters

In this paper, we provide a new method for regulating resonant converters that compares the input power to a control signal and uses that comparison to change the switching frequency. This approach reduces sensitivity to power stage parameters and tolerances by directly managing input power via the feedback loop that controls output voltage or current. It is perfect for a variety of uses, including LED drivers and battery chargers, due to its inherent power output limits and its ability to effectively monitor loads regardless of input or output voltage fluctuations. Additionally, the method guarantees top-notch responsiveness in real-time. This paper provides a theoretical analysis and employs an LLC resonant converter evaluation module to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.
