Insulation Dielectric Loss of High-Frequency Transformer Under Square Voltage Excitation With Edge Oscillation
High-frequency transformer (HFT) withstands high-frequency non-sinusoidal voltage and high temperature stresses. The edge oscillation (EdgOsc) in square voltage (SquVol) can significantly increase the insulation dielectric loss of potted epoxy resin. This paper investigates the epoxy resin insulation dielectric loss under SquVol with EdgOsc. The waveform of SquVol with EdgOsc can be described by an analytical function. The permittivities of epoxy resin sample are measured by broadband dielectric spectroscopy tester. The insulation dielectric loss under SquVol with EdgOsc can be calculated by Fourier superposition method with frequency-dependent ε″. Calculation results show that EdgOsc can increase the insulation dielectric loss by more than 10 times. In addition, insulation dielectric loss can increase by 0.5 to 1 times when the temperature increases from 25°C to 125°C. The contribution of EdgOsc in SquVol should be taken into considerations in insulation dielectric loss calculation.
