Comprehensive Investigation and Proposal of a New Wireless Charging Road Structure Using Low-Environmental-Impact Magnetic Concrete

Previous research on dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) systems for electric vehicles has used traditional magnetic concretes like Mn-Zn ferrite to improve power transfer efficiency. However, these materials pose environmental risks, such as the potential release of manganese into soil and water. This study proposes a new road structure using Sendust-based concrete and aluminum plates as a safer and more eco-friendly alternative. While Sendust has lower magnetic permeability than Mn-Zn ferrite, simulations and experiments show it can reduce rebar-related losses by 88% and total system losses by 28% during 20 kW power transmission when combined with aluminum plates. The structure also maintains key self-inductance and mutual inductance levels, ensuring efficient power transfer. This research supports the development of sustainable DWPT systems, with future work focusing on heat management, improving efficiency, and creating materials to further reduce Sendust concrete losses.
