Integrated Cu2S/AgPtSe2–Au Heteronanorods with Prominent Carrier Properties for Photothermal Conversion

Hybridization is an effective strategy to obtain complementary and synergistic properties from each component. This study describes an intriguing approach for the synthesis of rod-shaped Cu2S/AgPtSe2–Au hybrids with improved photothermal capabilities. The synthesis protocol involves a silver-mediated method for depositing the topological semimetals of PtSe2 onto the surface of Au nanorods, followed by wrapping a layer of Cu2S with high carrier concentration and mobility. The formed heterojunctions exhibit enhanced light absorption properties and accelerated charge separation of photoexcited carriers. Under excitation of a near-infrared 1064 nm laser, the hybridized Cu2S/AgPtSe2–Au shows enhanced photothermal conversion, with a 2.5-time temperature increase (ΔT) than that of bare Au nanorods.
