Serviços farmacêuticos em saúde mental: uma revisão de escopo
Introduction: The increase in the number of people with mental disorders and the lack of adequate treatment highlights the importance of mental health professionals. Studies highlight the benefits of pharmaceutical practice in this context, but there are still gaps regarding such services. Objective: The objective of this scoping review is to identify the services provided by pharmacists in mental health care. Methods: The review was based on the Joanna Briggs Institute scoping re-view protocol. The US National Library of Medicine, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences and SCOPUS were selected to identify articles. Articles were selected according to the pre-established inclusion criteria. The research was conducted by two researchers and the agreement between them was evaluated using Cohen’s kappa statistic parameter. Results: 1,937 studies were found, 22 of which were included and considered eligible for data extraction. The most identified clinical services provided by pharmacists were health education and pharmacotherapeutic monitoring. The most recurrent pharmaceutical interventions were education about medicines and identification of problems related to medicines. Discussion: Studies have shown that the clinical services provided by pharmacists for people with mental disorders are varied and comprehensive. Conclusion: Pharmaceutical mental health services play a crucial role in promoting quality of life and treating people with mental disorders. Pharmacists have demonstrated a significant impact on treatment adherence, optimizing therapy and improving clinical outcomes. The humanistic results demonstrate significant and satisfactory benefits for patients.
