Microbiological profile of a multidisciplinary hospital

Microbiological monitoring in multidisciplinary hospitals is a critical component of ensuring the safety of patients and medical personnel. In hospital settings, there is a high risk of developing and spreading healthcare-associated infections (HAI), which can significantly complicate the treatment of patients and increase the length of their stay in the hospital. Antimicrobial resistance undermines modern medicine and puts the lives of millions of people at risk. The risk of colonization with ESKAPE microorganisms in hospital patients is due to the likelihood of progression to healthcare-associated infection. This is due to a disruption of the immune system, invasive procedures, deteriorated nutrition, a high level of concomitant diseases, the possibility of cross-infection, as well as the presence of mechanisms for penetration through epithelial barriers and the ability of microorganisms to become persistent.
