Koncepcja szkolenia „Działania ratownicze w obiektach dziedzictwa kulturowego”
The article presents the concept of firefighter training titled “Rescue Operations in Cultural Heritage Sites”, aimed at enhancing the competencies of rescue services in protecting cultural heritage during crisis situations. In the context of the increasing threats to cultural assets, both from natural disasters and armed conflicts, the author emphasizes the importance of safeguarding cultural sites as a key element of national identity. Examples of destruction in Ukraine illustrate the scale of the problem, while Polish and international legal regulations highlight the obligation to protect cultural heritage in crisis situations. Surveys of firefighters from the Fire Department and OSP showed that while there is awareness of the importance of heritage protection, the current training system does not provide sufficient knowledge and practical skills in this area. Only 25% of respondents have participated in exercises related to the protection of cultural sites, and 84% indicated the need for specialized training. In the article, the author proposes a training program combining theoretical and practical sessions, covering topics such as legal regulations, the specifics of risks in museums, the selection of extinguishing agents, evacuation and safeguarding of artifacts, and exercises in heritage sites. This program aims to increase firefighters’ awareness and develop their skills in conducting rescue operations in cultural heritage sites.
