Artificial Intelligence for Maintenance and Production Optimization: Applications, Techniques and Challenges

Optimizing production efficiency and maintenance performance is an ongoing challenge that is essential to ensuring smooth business operations. These two functions are closely interrelated, efficient production relies on well-maintained equipment, while rigorous maintenance helps prevent disruptions and ensures operational continuity. In this context, it is important to analyze the methods used to optimize these two services as part of the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. In this regard, based on recent literature, the main objective of this paper is to present an overview of the evolution of the use of AI tools in the optimization of maintenance and production. It has also studied the AI tools most recommended by researchers. For this purpose, successively, the sorting and the classification of the recent literature will be analysed according to the established criteria. Then, the AI methods used for the optimization of maintenance and production will be presented and discussed, to conclude with a conclusion of the bibliography and the suggestions for future research.
