„Dodatkowa łyżeczka światła dziennie”. Słowo jako metoda w nowej fenomenologii francuskiej na przykładzie czterech przypadków: Maldiney, Chrétien, Barbaras, Sebbah

My goal is to analyze the problem of language used by contemporary thinkers associated with French phenomenology. Like Clifford Geertz in his important book Works and Lives. The Anthropologist as Author devoted to the importance of language in the field of cultural anthropology, I have selected texts by four French phenomenologists for analysis: Henri Maldiney, Jean‑Louis Chretien, Renaud Barbaras and François‑David Sebbah. I shall interpret their texts in the broader context of the new phenomenology, showing the affinities and inspirations they draw on, and emphasizing that they are supremely aware of the non‑transparency of language; this is evident in the objects of their interest I have chosen for analysis, which here become: the book, the act of reading, poetry, or the poetic (le poethique) as a distinguished mode of being, and ultimately, phenomenological writing itself, and facing what Sebbah refers to as impossible phenomenology; impossible precisely by trying to encapsulate experience in words. I will be interested here both in the language used by the phenomenologists I have selected, the style they choose, and in their descriptions of specific phenomena, this time linked to language.
