Alzheimer’s: Waiting for the train that never arrives
This paper looks at the development of the dominant narrative, or paradigm, regarding dementia and how it led to the setting up of Memory Clinics, which too frequently offer diagnosis but no treatment. I suggest that the G.P. surgery is a more appropriate location and that therapeutic interventions should be provided by Psychological Services to Older People as soon as the older person reports becoming concerned about their cognitive state.
