Efficiency analysis of vocational colleges using DEA-Malmquist Index: A case study

If we do a deep assessment of the operating efficiency of the secondary colleges in higher education institutions, it can make the educational resources integrate and optimize smoothly, improve how resources are distributed, and also make the management better. The operation of these colleges is very complex, and there are many kinds of inputs and outputs. This research builds a framework of input indicators, including human capital, financial resources and physical assets. And there's also a framework of output indicators, covering talent cultivation, strategic achievements and basic administrative functions. Using models like CCR-DEA, BCC-DEA and DEA-Malmquist, it analyzes the operating efficiency and the performance trend every year of seven important secondary colleges in A Vocational College from 2021 to 2023. The analysis results show that during the period of this research, the operating efficiency has been improving all the time. Also, the key problems that hold back the development of the colleges have been found. In the paper, some strategic suggestions for the future development are made. This analysis is especially important for optimizing the efficiency and teaching quality of higher vocational colleges. It can support the sustainable development goals of educational institutions and also promote wider social and economic progress.
