TO PRODUCE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF LEARNING MODULES FOR POLYTECHNIC STUDENTS ON MOTIVATION, SELF-EFFICACY AND ACHIEVEMENT

This study aims to produce and evaluate the effects of programming learning modules on the achievement, motivation and self-efficacy of polytechnic students in programming courses. Construction of a multimedia learning module based on the ADDIE model. This study examines the difference between pre-test and post-test for self-efficacy to polytechnic students for treatment and control groups, examines the difference between pre-test and post-test for motivation for polytechnic students for treatment and control groups, examines the difference between pre-test and post-test for achievement to polytechnic students for the treatment and control groups, examine the difference between pre-test and post-test for motivation to polytechnic students for the treatment and control groups and identify the effect of self-efficacy as a mediator between the relationship between motivation and achievement with the help of Java Quantum Quest multimedia learning modules and worksheets. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was used in this study. The selection of research subjects was carried out by sampling to involve 80 semester 3 students of the Department of Information and Communication Technology who took the course DFC3033 Object Oriented Programming at four polytechnics. The instrument used to obtain data in this study is the Instructional Materials Motivational Scale (IMMS) to measure the level of student motivation, pre-test and post-test to see student achievement. Meanwhile, the Computer Programming Self-Efficacy (CPSES) questionnaire to measure student self-efficacy. The data analysis of this study uses the paired sample T-Test and mediator analysis using the Sobel Test. The results found for objective first; the treatment group showed that there was a significant increase in self- efficacy in the treatment group after the intervention, while the control group showed a significant change in self-efficacy in the control group. Objective second, the treatment group showed a significant increase in the level of motivation from the pre-test to the post-test in the treatment group, while the control group also showed a significant increase in the level of motivation from the pre-test to the post-test in the control group. Objective third, the treatment group showed that there was a significant difference in the level of achievement from the pre-test to the post-test in the treatment group, while the control group also showed a significant increase in the level of achievement from the pre-test to the post-test in the control group. Finally, objective forth, self-efficacy is not a mediator between motivation and achievement in this study. This teaching module was developed to be used as a teaching aid for teachers. In addition, it can help Polytechnic Malaysia students master the concepts and improve programming course skills.
