The Relationship Between Adjustment to College Life and Academic Self-Efficacy Among Nursing Students
This study aimed to assess the levels of adjustment to college life and academic self-efficacy among nursing students and examine the relationship between these variables to identify strategies for enhancing academic achievement and promoting successful college adjustment. One hundred seventyeight nursing students who agreed to participate were surveyed between November 1 and 12, 2023.Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients with SPSS Statistics 23.0.The findings revealed that among the subdomains of adjustment to college life, academic activities and personal-psychological dimensions were reported at the highest levels.Significant differences in adjustment were observed according to the academic year, motivation for choosing the nursing major, and satisfaction with the major.Similarly, academic self-efficacy significantly varied based on motivation for major selection and major satisfaction.A positive correlation was found between adjustment to college life and academic self-efficacy, with academic activities and personal-psychological subdomains showing the strongest associations. These results suggest that developing and implementing tailored mentoring programs, psychological counselling, and academic support services for nursing students may enhance their academic success and adjustment to college life, ultimately supporting their development into competent professional nurses.
