Optimization of Ornamental Plant Production through the Application of PGPR in Gunungsari Village, Bumiaji District

Ornamental plants or floriculture are a group of plants that have significant economic, health, and aesthetic value. In Gunungsari Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City, ornamental plant cultivation has grown rapidly but still experiences high dependence on fertilizers, pesticides, and synthetic growth regulators. This dependence can negatively impact the environment, especially in the long term. To overcome this problem, this community service activity is proposed to introduce and socialize Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) technology as an alternative to reduce inorganic chemicals used in agricultural crops. This activity adopts a qualitative method in which after socialization on the benefits of PGPR and the use of technology through demo plots, evaluations through interviews and mentoring are performed. The evaluation seeks to evaluate the community’s understanding of the benefits and applications of using PGPR in ornamental plant cultivation. The findings from this activity indicate a greater community understanding and awareness of the function of PGPR in supporting more environmentally sound or sustainable cultivation practices. Instantly, we hope the use of PGPR can be a suitable treatment to decrease dependence on chemicals and contribute to the sustainability of the floriculture sector in Gunungsari Village.
