GENERATIONS ON THE LABOUR MARKET IN EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES
<ns3:p>Research on the labour market situation of selected generations can serve as a basis for assessing the extent to which people born in the same period have characteristics that distinguish them from those born in other generations. It can also be used to help design labour market policies. The aim of the study is the presentation and assessment of the situation of younger and older generations in the labour markets of the European Union countries. The timeframe of the analysis is 2013 and 2022, and the sources of information are the literature and Eurostat databases. The research methodology includes desk research and the TOPSIS method. The added value of the research carried out is the comparison of two selected generations present in the labour market of European Union countries, their comparative analysis using the linear ordering method and the establishment of a ranking of the Community countries om the basis of the characteristics studied. As can be seen from the analysis, the average value of the synthetic indicator representing the situation on the labour market of young people in 2022 in relation to 2013 has decreased by almost 7%, while in the case of the population over 50 the value of the indicator has increased minimally (0.5%). Difficulties in the labor market undoubtedly affect both generations, although in a different way – age discrimination is felt particularly strongly by older people, but the situation of the younger generation seems more complicated.</ns3:p>
