The role of sustained long-term stress in the severity of somatization during the inpatient rehabilitation

The article examines theoretical background and the impact of sustained long-term stress on the severity of psychosomatic manifestations in servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine and representatives of the National Police of Ukraine during the inpatient rehabilitation. The data of the sample are analyzed in order to identify the frequency and intensity of psychosomatic symptoms arising under the influence of stress factors during the performance of official duties. It has been found that long-term stress significantly affects the somatic condition of military personnel, causing such symptoms as headaches, sleep disturbances, pain in the heart, general weakness, reduced work capacity and other manifestations. A high level of avoidance and provision of socially desirable responses was established in this sample. Particular attention is paid to the question of the somatization profiles, which can contribute to the development of more effective approaches to rehabilitation and medical support of the specified cohort at the stage of recovery.
