Base‐Promoted Solvent‐Tuned Annulation: A Route to Sulfonylated Isochromenes from Sulfonyl Enynals
A base‐promoted annulation via 1,2‐addition/alkyne‐allene isomerization/ oxa‐ Michael cyclization of sulfonyl enynals for the synthesis of sulfonylated isochromene is developed. The choice of solvent plays a crucial role in this transformation to give the sulfonylated iscohromenes. The reaction mechanism is supported by the react‐IR experiment. To emphasize the practical utility, the sulfonylated isochromene is deftly elaborated into diversely substituted naphthalene and isocoumarine.
