Technology and Use Cases Pushing Reliability in 6G
While there is a lot of talk about 6G, while 5G is still struggling, the use cases envisioned for 6G present unique reliability challenges. Timing is such that new technologies are readying to support the vision of 6G, while 6G also depends on these technologies being successful. With proper consideration of what reliability means in the context of 6G, we can design a reliable solution, and the timing is right to do that. However, we need to broaden the view of what reliable services and networks really mean. We must also consider the impact of connected systems such as OSS, telemetry challenges, and network operations in designing 6G for reliability. Success will require more efficient, reliable, effective, and less expensive network operations. Awareness of this issue happens now so that 6G can become a reality, eventually.
