Sustainable Economic Growth Through Data Analytics: The Impact of Business Analytics on U.S. Energy Markets and Green Initiatives

Renewable energy consumption in the United States has substantially evolved over recent decades, largely driven by pressing environmental concerns, progressive policy shifts, and remarkable technological advancements. This research paper offers a comprehensive analysis of monthly renewable energy consumption data spanning from 1973 to 2024. The data is categorized by sector-residential, commercial, transportation, electric power, and industrial-and by energy source, including hydroelectric, geothermal, solar, wind, and others. By applying business analytics, this study examines critical trends and consumption patterns to assess renewable energy's influence on fostering sustainable economic growth in the U.S. and its implications for shaping future energy policy. The findings reveal a consistent upward trajectory in renewable energy adoption, with solar and wind energy demonstrating particularly robust growth patterns across the analyzed period. However, the adoption rates reveal notable variations between sectors. The electric power sector has emerged as the leading consumer of renewable energy, accounting for a significant share of total consumption. Conversely, the residential and industrial sectors exhibit much slower adoption of renewable sources, affected by distinct sector-specific problems, regulatory environments, and technological preparedness. Seasonal and monthly consumption patterns reveal peaks at certain times, indicating possible strategies to enhance renewable energy use. The study emphasizes the pivotal role of business analytics in facilitating data-driven decision-making in the energy sector, highlighting its ability to bolster green initiatives, encourage sustainable practices, and further the overarching objective of sustainable economic growth. These findings provide valuable insights for stakeholders, enabling a nuanced understanding of renewable energy dynamics.
