Cloud Integrated Arduino Based Smart Energy Meter for Real-Time Monitoring and Uncover Hidden Costs
The Smart Energy Meter represents a significant improvement in automated billing systems, offering better efficiency, speed, convenience, and reliability compared to conventional meters. In addition to displaying the units consumed and energy usage in cash on an LCD screen, our Energy Meter design dramatically reduces the need for manual intervention, enhancing its trustworthiness as a means of electric billing. To accurately detect input current and voltage, our Energy Meter incorporates a Current Sensor and a Voltage Divider Circuit. Additionally, to cater to domestic usage, the Power Factor is set to a constant value. Leveraging an Arduino micro-controller, we determine power, energy, units consumed, and the accompanying energy prices. This approach not only eliminates errors associated with manual computations but also mitigates the risk of data loss by storing information within the Arduino. Furthermore, our Energy Meter design minimizes the possibility of power theft by minimizing human intervention, a vulnerability commonly exploited in electromechanical meters. In addition to these features, our Smart Energy Meter includes a mobile application. This app allows users to view real-time data on units consumed, bill amount, and receive alert messages if the bill amount exceeds a predefined threshold. By integrating these functionalities, our Smart Energy Meter offers a comprehensive, efficient, and secure solution for energy billing in home settings.
