Analysis of Influence of Dielectric Coating on Transmission Array Antenna
The breakdown of air discharge on the antenna surface can cause structural damage, which is the main factor affecting the antenna power capacity. In this paper, the surface of the transmission metasurface and transmission array antenna are coated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to convert the air discharge breakdown into dielectric breakdown, reduce the electric field intensity of the antenna, and increase the power capacity. After coating PTFE dielectric material with thickness of 2mm, the surface electric field intensity of the transmission metasurface decreases from 296.17V/cm to 153.67V/cm. The surface electric field intensity of the antenna array decreases from 25.73V/cm to 16.67V/cm, and the gain increases from 21.80dB to 23.10dB. It can be proved that coating dielectric material on the antenna surface can reduce the electric field intensity and increase the power capacity of the antenna.
