SPINDLE CELL NEOPLASIA OF THE BREAST IN AN ELDERLY WOMAN: CASE REPORT
Spindle cell neoplasia of the breast is a rare disease, it can be benign or malignant and represents a major challenge for the pathologist, because it may present a variety of overlapping cells that makes the injury diagnosis harder. Clinical data and immunohistochemistry with great variety in its panel are needed for a better definition. There are few case reports relating to this diagnosis through core biopsy. This article is about a case report of a patient diagnosed with spindle cell neoplasia. Multiple data sources were used. The conclusion is that the patient’s clinical data, in addition to immunohistochemistry are of great importance, as well as the contact between pathologist and mastologist for further clarification of possible doubts. More studies need to be carried out to better understand this kind of cell overlapping and more accurate diagnostics to have an appropriate conduct by the mastologist.
