Aerosol spray pyrolysis two-step method to prepare Y2O3:Eu3+ phosphors without organic additives

This study utilized aerosol spray pyrolysis (ASP) two-step method to synthesize Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ phosphors without organic additives. By optimizing Eu 3+ doping concentration and annealing temperature, we found that higher doping levels required increased annealing temperatures. The phosphors exhibited a solid spherical morphology (1.1 ± 0.2 μm) and cubic phase structure (Ia-3 space group), with Eu 3+ occupying two Y 2 O 3 sites. Photoluminescence analysis revealed red emission at 613 nm ( 5 D 0 → 7 F 2 transition) under 254 nm excitation, with maximum intensity at 7 mol% doping concentration. The Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ phosphors demonstrated high color purity (91.8 %). This study provides an efficient and reliable new method for the preparation of phosphors without organic additives, and systematically elucidates the mechanism of the effects of annealing temperature and doping concentration on the material properties.
