Acute liver injury and pulmonary embolism secondary to nitrous oxide inhalation: A case report
Nitrous oxide is an inhalational anesthetic with a high abuse potential. Its increased abuse in recent times has been associated with adverse effects of myeloneuropathy, venous thrombosis, myocardial infarction, and pneumothorax. We report a case of a 36-year-old male who presented with acute onset chest pain following inhalation of nitrous oxide. Upon admission, the patient had sinus tachycardia and icterus on physical examination.
