A new bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid from the roots of Stephania tetrandra
Abstract A new bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid, (1 S ,1′ S )‐13‐hydroxy‐6,6′,7‐trimethoxy‐2,2′‐dimethylberbaman ( 1 ) along with four known alkaloids, tetrandrine ( 2 ), fangchinoline ( 3 ), tetrahydropalmatine ( 4 ) and dehydrocrebanine ( 5 ) were isolated from the roots of Stephania tetrandra . Their chemical structure was determined by HR‐ESI‐MS and 1D‐, 2D NMR spectra and comparison with published results. The absolute configuration of compound 1 was determined by the electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy technique.
