History and Culture of Croatia in the Life and Creative Interests of Ivan Franko
The proposed study, based on the Ukrainian scholar Ivan Franko’s extensive creative heritage, as well as on materials from little-known sources and epistolary, reveals the directions of his interests in the history and culture of Croatia. His stays in the Croatian resort towns of Lipik and Lovran are highlighted, with emphasis placed on analysis of his multigenre creative works of that time. The article also describes Franko’s scientific interests in Croatian history and culture and analyses the relationships between the Ukrainian scholar and leading Croatian figures. The study has established that Franko played a significant role in the formation of Ukrainian-Croatian cultural relations in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
