Maintenance Model Integrating 4DX, RCM and I4.0 to Improve the Availability of Critical Assets

Critical assets are important for companies. In this sense, the case study is a water and sewage service provider company that reports a low availability of its critical assets, with a technical gap of 4.6% concerning the optimal level, it represents an annual economic impact of more than $70,000. The reasons for low availability are unproductive times and reprocesses due to improper prioritization of tasks, lack of spare parts, and errors in data recording. Thus, this study, applied research, aims to propose an improvement model integrating 4DX-RCM tools to reduce unproductive times and the I4.0 to reduce errors in data recording, supported by the change management model to ensure the sustainability of the purpose. The model is validated in Python Software, the code compiles initial data, calculates key availability metrics and applies sequential system efficiency improvements. The estimated results show significant improvements, such as a reduction in MTTR by 8% and an increase in MTBF by 26%. Consequently, the initial availability of the critical assets improves from 86.83% to 90.64%, 3.81% more. Likewise, reliability increases from 60.06% to 66.77%. Therefore, it is concluded that the proposed model improves the availability of critical equipment in companies and can be applied to other sectors, including its validation.
