ТЕСТАМЕНТ МИЛОША БЕЛМУЖЕВИЋА

Our intention was to publish a critical edition of the will of voivode Miloš Belmužević written on 8 September 1500, two months beforе he died. The last will contains a short biography of voivode Miloš from the time he came in Hungary according to the agreement with the Hungarian king and barons. Due to its markedly autobiographical character, the value of Belmužević’s testament as a historical source is significant. Although the text of this source has been known to Serbian historiography since the beginning of the 20th century on the basis of the edition made by Aleksa Ivić, we believed that due to the time that has passed and the fact that we have come into possession of a recording of the document, it is useful to publish this important source again. In addition, a typographical error that crept into the document’s date in the earlier edition has long led researchers astray when it comes to determining the date of the will’s creation.
