On diagnosis and treatment of alcoholic psychoses in the practice of a family doctor
Alcohol psychoses are one of the most common and severe complications of chronic alcoholism, accompanied by high mortality, disability, and social maladjustment. They pose a threat to the health and life of both patients and those around them, since such patients often commit aggressive and illegal acts. The article examines the mechanism of alcohol action on the brain and the development of withdrawal syndrome, diagnostic criteria and pharmacological treatment of alcoholic delirium, and the features of the morphology of the brain in people after closed craniocerebral injury who suffer from alcohol dependence. The clinical case of a patient with closed craniocerebral injury and alcohol dependence is also examined.
