Research on MPSK signal modulation identification technology based on higher-order cumulants

This paper focuses on the modulation recognition of MPSK signals. Firstly, the characteristic parameter of MPSK signals is analyzed, and the theoretical foundation of higher-order cumulants is expounded. The higher-order cumulants and higher-order moment of random processes are derived. Then, the second-order, fourth-order, and sixth-order cumulants of MPSK signals are calculated, and a feature parameter is extracted from them. Simulation experiments are conducted to verify the recognition performance. The results show that by using the higher-order cumulant method and selecting appropriate characteristic parameter, the recognition of 2PSK, 4PSK, and 8PSK digital modulation signals can be achieved. When the signal-to-noise ratio is greater than -3dB, the recognition rate is close to 100%. This research can provide a reference for the design and application of signal modulation identification systems.
