Influence of medium temperature on digital radiographic parameters during online inspection of pressure piping systems

The accuracy of digital radiography inspection for pressure pipelines is significantly affected by the medium temperature. This study investigates the relationship between medium temperature and radiographic exposure parameters during online inspection. A theoretical model of temperature-dependent radiation attenuation was established, and experimental validation was conducted using a simulated pressure pipeline system with temperature range from 20°C to 400°C. Results indicate that the medium temperature has a notable impact on radiation intensity and image quality, with an average deviation of 12.3% in penetration thickness calculation when temperature effects are neglected. A compensation algorithm was proposed to optimize exposure parameters based on temperature variations, improving inspection accuracy by 85.2%. This research provides theoretical guidance for parameter optimization in high-temperature pipeline radiographic testing.
