Path planning algorithm based on the combination of Baidu map and optimized a-star algorithm

With the rise of the internet, the food delivery industry has flourished. However, traditional mapping software can lead to various road issues. To tackle the challenge of faster food delivery, we designed a secondary optimized path planning algorithm based on Baidu Maps. This algorithm first implements land path planning using the Baidu Map API, then optimizes the A-Star algorithm for waterway paths, and finally adaptively selects the optimal route based on path distance or travel time between the new waterway and land-planned routes. Tests in cities with extensive water areas showed significant improvements in delivery efficiency by leveraging water resources. Experiments revealed that the average path planning time in certain urban areas was reduced by 28.718%, and the average path length decreased by 32.527%.
